Carol L. Tilley

Carol L. Tilley (Ph.D., Information Science, Indiana University) is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she teaches courses in comics’ reader’s advisory, media literacy, and youth services librarianship. Part of her scholarship focuses on the intersection of young people, comics, and libraries, particularly in the United States during the mid-twentieth century. Her research has been published in Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (JASIST), Information & Culture: A Journal of History, Children’s Literature in Education, and elsewhere. Her work on anti-comics crusader and psychiatrist Fredric Wertham’s data falsification was featured in the New York Times and other media.
